This is an oversize bound photostatic copy of the original autobiography and record book of John Lee Jones. It was obtained through Juanita Brooks and covers the time period from 1885 to 1927. Jones starts with a four-page family record before beginning his autobiography. He initially describes his family's life in England, their conversion to Mormonism, their emigration to the United States, and their assistance in settling Iron County, Utah. He then recounts several of his missionary journeys, includig two missions to help recent emigrants from Europe make the journey from the east coast to Salt Lake City, Utah, and a mission to England in 1879 that lasted eighteen months.

John Lee Jones (1841 -1935) was born in St. Helens (Merseyside, England), the son of John Pidding Jones and Margaret Lee. After his parents were converted to Mormonism in 1846, Jones himself was baptized into the church in 1850. As emigrants from England, the family helped settle Iron County, Utah in 1852.
